image: Repression of Notch4* expression results in the restoration of venous markers (EphB4), and the suppression of arterial markers (EphrinB2, Dll4, Jag1, and Cx40) in the arteriovenous connection. The arteriovenous connection regresses though a mechanism dependent on signaling by the re-expressed venous marker EphB4. Regression does not require the loss of endothelial cells, and occurs without signs of thrombosis or hemorrhage. Ultimately, the vasculature is normalized structurally and functionally.
