Microscopy images of human brain sections showing the amyloid precursor protein (APP) in brown evenly distributed in a healthy control brain (A and B) and abnormally clustered in a brain with Alzheimer's disease (C and D). In control brains, APP is mainly found in the cell bodies of neurons (A, B) but in Alzheimer's disease patients, APP is mainly aggregated outside the cell bodies (C, D).
