左：無処置（non-icing）、アイシング（icing）における筋横断面で、炎症性マクロファージ（白→）、抗炎症性マクロファージ（白△）の分布を損傷3日後（Day 3）、5日後（Day 5）で比較。アイシングした筋で3日後、マクロファージの集まりが悪いが、5日後には集まっている。 右：炎症性マクロファージの視野における数の平均。アイシングを行うと、炎症性マクロファージが早期に損傷筋に集まっていない。遅れて5日後、7日後に炎症性マクロファージが観察される。
