Evaluation of the Clinically Reported Mutation of the Alpha-5 Chain during Trimer Formation (IMAGE)
Caption
(A) Expression of collagen IV alpha-3, alpha-4, and alpha-5 in cells. High luminescence was produced only in the formation of the alpha-345 trimer. (B) Mutant alpha-5 proteins reported in Alport Syndrome had a trimer formation lower than that of the normal type (WT). This suggests that we can evaluate functional abnormalities of collagen IV found in Alport Syndrome using this assay system.
