Reconstructed computer image of layered cross-sections of the organ of Corti vertical to the modiolus from a 2-month-old mouse (homozygous Nox3-Cre+/+;tdTomato). The presence of red fluorescent proteins (tdTomato) indicates that Nox3 is expressed in the outer hair cells (indicated by asterisks (*)) and in various supporting cells (??Inner phalangeal cells, ??inner pillar cells ??outer pillar cells).
