Asynchronous concurrent lactation in the swamp wallaby (IMAGE)
Caption
Asynchronous concurrent lactation in the swamp wallaby. Swamp wallabies may also suckle two young at different stages of development. A newborn, immature young and a semi-independent young at foot. Note the large gland and nipple adjacent to the neonate which is still actively producing a different volume and composition of milk for the young at foot.
