Newly Discovered Bird Virus Linked to Beak-Bending Disorder (IMAGE)

A black-capped chickadee with Avian Keratin Disorder (AKD) is shown in Homer, Alaska. This year, scientists discovered a new virus that may be the cause of this beak-bending disease that has swept across wild bird populations over the last decade. The virus is one of 133 new discoveries made by the California Academy of Sciences in 2016.
