Caption Recent WSU-led research offers hope for at-risk butterflies, like the Oregon silverspot, finding that their populations did better when their habitat was actively managed. The study looked at 31 at-risk butterfly species across the U.S. whose populations are facing rapid declines related to habitat loss, climate change and pesticide use. The video clips show WSU Professor Cheryl Schultz’ research team at the Nestucca Bay National Wildlife Refuge in Oregon where they are studying the silverspot’s response to different habitat management treatments.
