Density distributions predicted for the ground and first excited states of 18Mg (left) and 18C (right), respectively

The predicted internal structure of 18Mg indicates that the valence protons are likely to form paired and cigar-like structures. Additionally, a moderate breaking of mirror symmetry has been observed between 18C and 18Mg.  The complete study is accessible via DOI: 10.1007/s41365-024-01479-1.
