Using an advanced theoretical model, the decay process of 18Mg has been elucidated. It indicates that simultaneous two-proton emission is the more probable decay mode, despite the energetic feasibility of single-proton decay. The complete study is accessible via DOI: 10.1007/s41365-024-01479-1.
