於大腦皮層遭刺傷後只接受了假照射小鼠和接受了低劑量X射線照射的小鼠的爬桿表現比較。僅接受了假X光照射的對照組小鼠大部分時間都呆在桿頂，直到腦受傷後28天才能正常下桿（左圖）。相比之下，曾接受低劑量X射線治療的小鼠，由開始受傷直至受傷後21天的所有時間點，爬下桿所需的時間都遠遠低於對照組的小鼠。
