As an integral part of China's most prestigious university, Tsinghua University Press (TUP) was established in 1980 and has since evolved into a leading comprehensive publisher in China. At present, TUP publishes 67 journals, 21 in Chinese and 46 in English. Among these journals, 56 are focused on science and technology, with 18 and 8 being indexed by ESCI and SCIE, respectively. Additionally, there are 11 journals centered on humanities and social sciences.

Drawing on Tsinghua University’s advantaged disciplines, and aligned with academic frontiers, TUP have formed six major collections of journals, including nanoscience, information science, physical science and engineering, life science and medicine, climate change, energy and environment and humanities and social sciences. Among the 26 journals indexed by SCIE or ESCI, 13 hold a Q1 ranking. Three of these journals boast the highest impact factor globally in their respective fields.

In 2022, TUP launched SciOpen. As a publishing platform of TUP, SciOpen provides free access to an online collection of journals across diverse academic disciplines and serves to meet the research needs of scientific communities. SciOpen's reach extends to users across 200+ countries and regions, generating over 100 million page views throughout 2025.
