About Science Partner Journals

The Science Partner Journal (SPJ) program was launched in late 2017 by the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), the nonprofit publisher of the Science family of journals. The program features high-quality, Open Access publications produced in collaboration with international research institutions, foundations, funders, and societies. Through these collaborations, AAAS furthers its mission to communicate science broadly and for the benefit of all people by providing top-tier international research organizations with the technology, visibility, and publishing expertise that AAAS is uniquely positioned to offer as the world’s largest general science membership society.

Organizations participating in the SPJ program are editorially independent and responsible for the content published in each journal. To oversee the publication process, each organization provides professional editors committed to best practices in peer review and author service. It is the responsibility of the staff of each SPJ title to establish and execute all aspects of the peer review process, including oversight of editorial policy, selection of papers, and editing of content, following best practices advised by AAAS. AAAS is actively seeking new partners across scientific disciplines. For more information about the SPJ program, please visit spj.science.org. For questions regarding the program and inquiries about the application process for becoming a partner organization, contact spj@aaas.org.

About the American Association for the Advancement of Science

The American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) is the world’s largest general scientific society and publisher of the journal Science, as well as Science Translational MedicineScience Signaling; digital, open access journal Science AdvancesScience Immunology; and Science Robotics. AAAS was founded in 1848 and includes more than 250 affiliated societies and academies of science, serving 10 million individuals. Science has the largest paid circulation of any peer-reviewed general science journal in the world. The nonprofit AAAS is open to all and fulfills its mission to “advance science and serve society” through initiatives in science policy, international programs, science education, public engagement, and more. For additional information about AAAS, visit www.aaas.org.

About Research

Research was launched in 2018 as the first journal in the SPJ program in partnership with the Science and Technology Review Publishing House, the publishing house under the leadership of China Association for Science and Technology (CAST). As with all participants in the SPJ program, Research is editorially independent from the Science family of journals and CAST is responsible for all content published in the journal. Research provides an international platform for academic exchange, collaboration, and technological advancements. The journal publishes high-quality research from any research domain, from any author in the world.

About Plant Phenomics

Plant Phenomics was launched in 2018 as the second journal in the SPJ program. It is an open access journal published in affiliation with the State Key Laboratory of Crop Genetics & Germplasm Enhancement, Nanjing Agricultural University (NAU), and distributed by the AAAS and began publishing in 2019. Like all journals participating in the SPJ program, Plant Phenomics is editorially independent from the Science family of journals. The mission of Plant Phenomics is to publish novel research that will advance all aspects of plant phenotyping from the cell to the plant population levels using innovative combinations of sensor systems and data analytics. Plant Phenomics aims also to connect phenomics to other science domains, such as genomics, genetics, physiology, molecular biology, bioinformatics, statistics, mathematics, and computer sciences. Plant Phenomics should thus contribute to advance plant sciences and agriculture/forestry/horticulture by addressing key scientific challenges in the area of plant phenomics.

About Ecosystem Health and Sustainability

Ecosystem Health and Sustainability was launched in 2015 by the Ecological Society of China and has been published by the AAAS since joining the Science Partner Journal (SPJ) program at the end of 2022. Ecosystem Health and Sustainability publishes research on advances in sustainability ecology and how global environmental change affects ecosystem health. Papers focus on applying ecological theory, principles, and concepts to support sustainable development, especially in the areas undergoing rapid environmental change. Like all journals participating in the SPJ program, Ecosystem Health and Sustainability is editorially independent from the Science family of journals.

About Energy Material Advances

Energy Material Advances was launched in 2020 in affiliation with the Beijing Institute of Technology (BIT), and distributed by the AAAS. It is an interdisciplinary journal which provides an advanced platform for investigations and research in the fields of material, energy, environmental, photoelectric, electromechanical, and mechanical sciences, as well as physics, chemistry, and biology. The scope covers multiple fields from cutting-edge material to energy science, investigating theoretical, technological as well as engineering aspects. Like all journals participating in the SPJ program, Energy Material Advances is editorially independent from the Science family of journals.
