IADR names recipients of the 2023 IADR LION Dental Research Awards

International Association for Dental, Oral, and Craniofacial Research

Alexandria, VA – The International Association for Dental Research (IADR) has announced the 2023 recipients of the IADR LION Dental Research Award. The recipients were recognized during the Opening Ceremonies of the 101st General Session of the IADR, which was held in conjunction with the 9th Meeting of the Latin American Region and the 12th World Congress on Preventive Dentistry, that took place on June 21, 2023, in Bogotá, Colombia.

The 2023 Recipients are:

  • Mateus Xavier Queiroz, University of Campinas, Piracicaba, Brazil for Cariology Research,
  • Sofia Tortora Morel, SUNY Downstate University of Health Sciences, Brooklyn, New York, USA for Microbiology/Immunology Research, and
  • Jessy Kamila Sihuay Torres, University of Toronto, Ontario, Canada for Behavioral, Epidemiologic, and Health Services Research.

The Lion Dental Research Award is intended to support improvements in oral health sciences through the stimulation of junior researchers by recognition of outstanding and innovative research in basic dental science for the improvement of public dental health; and recognition of applied research achievements for improvement and development of oral care products for the prevention or oral diseases. These awards are made possible by a generous donation from the Lion Corporation, Tokyo, Japan.
