Targeting Mitochondria 2022 will be introduced by Douglas C. Wallace, Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, USA, who will give a keynote speech on Mitochondrial Medicine: Present and Future.

James McCully, Harvard Medical School Department of Cardiac Surgery Boston Children’s Hospital, USA. will chair and introduce this session about Recent Advances in Mitochondrial Transplantation Therapy.

Concerning the originality of this 13th Edition of the WMS annual meeting, which will be organized in-person after 2 years, Volkmar Weissig, president of WMS, Midwestern University, USA, and Marvin Edeas, chairman of the WMS scientific committee, Université de Paris, France, commented: "Again, we wish to confirm our previous statements “The future of medicine will come through mitochondria”".
