In 2021 Acta Pharmaceutica Sinica B (APSB) is celebrating its 10th anniversary. The journal was founded with the goal of creating a global high-level forum centred around drug discovery and pharmaceutical research/application. APSB was included by Chemical Abstracts in 2011, accepted by PubMed Central in 2015, indexed by Science Citation Index in 2017 and has evolved to become one of the most important international journals in the field of pharmaceutical sciences.
APSB is a monthly journal, in English, which publishes significant original research articles, rapid communications and high-quality reviews of recent advances in all areas of pharmaceutical sciences — including pharmacology, pharmaceutics, medicinal chemistry, natural products, pharmacognosy, pharmaceutical analysis and pharmacokinetics.
Articles of interest in this issue:
Discovery of a subtype-selective, covalent inhibitor against palmitoylation pocket of TEAD3 by Tian Lu, Yong Li, Wenchao Lu et al. (https://doi.org/10.1016/j.apsb.2021.04.015). The authors of this article obtained a selective TEAD3 inhibitor DC-TEAD3in03 that reduced the growth rate of zebrafish caudal fin through gel-based ABPP palmitoylation assay and follow-up structural optimization.
TRIB3‒GSK-3β interaction promotes lung fibrosis and serves as a potential therapeutic target by Shanshan Liu, Xiaoxi Lv, Xupeng Wei et al. (https://doi.org/10.1016/j.apsb.2021.06.017). Elevated TRIB3 expression in macrophages positively correlate with the development of pulmonary fibrosis. TRIB3 interaction with GSK-3β obstructs the ubiquitination and degradation of GSK-3β. Targeting TRIB3‒GSK-3β interaction reduces pulmonary fibrosis.
Functional identification of the terpene synthase family involved in diterpenoid alkaloids biosynthesis in Aconitum carmichaelii by Liuying Mao, Baolong Jin, Lingli Chen et al. (https://doi.org/10.1016/j.apsb.2021.04.008). A Pacbio full-length transcriptome of Aconitum carmichaelii were publicly available. Twelve diterpene synthases were functional identified to responsible for atisine, napelline type diterpene alkaloids (DAs) and ent-13-epi-sandaracopimaradie biosynthesis, respectively.
Cancer-specific calcium nanoregulator suppressing the generation and circulation of circulating tumor cell clusters for enhanced anti-metastasis combinational chemotherapy by Dan Li, Yingli Wang, Chang Li et al. (https://doi.org/10.1016/j.apsb.2021.04.009). The authors of this paper developed cancer-specific calcium nanoregulator to enhance anti-metastasis combinational chemotherapy, which showed remarkable anti-tumor and anti-metastasis efficacy by targeting the homologous tumor cells, restraining the epithelial–mesenchymal transition, dissociating and depleting circulating tumor cell clusters.
