Cell Proliferation in Hard Environments (3 of 3)

image: This is a point-by-point height and stiffness map of single cells was acquired from Atomic Force Microscopy-force volume mode measurements. Height images were overlaid with stiffness maps to determine localized mechanical properties for single cells. This image relates to a paper that appeared in the June 17, 2014, issue of Science Signaling, published by AAAS. The paper, by Dr. Y.H. Bae at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, Pa., and colleagues was titled, "A FAK-Cas-Rac-Lamellipodin Signaling Module Transduces Extracellular Matrix Stiffness into Mechanosensitive Cell Cycling." view more
