image: The SEMA/SNAC tablet is absorbed in the stomach. Traditionally, tablets are absorbed in the intestine, but that would not work well for a peptide, hence the importance of stomach absorption. SNAC, a fatty acid derivative that is much smaller than SEMA, allows SEMA to become absorbed without being degraded.
