People with Disabilities Underrepresented in Mainstream Research (1 of 3)

image: A portable video magnifier, which is held like an optical magnifier, but uses a different technology. By creating a video image of the object being viewed, it allows for creating a much larger image with minimal distortion. It also is able to zoom in, and to project a negative image -- white type on a black background, for example -- which is much easier to see for some individuals with low vision. This image relates to a commentary that appeared in the May 11, 2011, issue of Science Translational Medicine, published by AAAS. The commentary, by Dr. Ann S. Williams of Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio, and colleagues, was titled, "Universal Design of Research: Inclusion of Persons with Disabilities in Mainstream Biomedical Studies." view more
