Satellite Animation Shows Hurricane Maria and Tropical Storm Jose

video: This animation of NOAA's GOES East satellite imagery from Sept. 18 at 7:15 a.m. EDT (1115 UTC) to Sept. 21 ending at 7:45 a.m. EDT (1145 UTC) shows Tropical Storm Jose moving north along the U.S. East coast. By Sept. 21 at 7:45 a.m. EDT Jose's center was 150 miles southeast of Nantucket Island, Massachusetts and tropical storm warnings were in effect in Rhode Island and Massachusetts. Meanwhile, the animation shows Hurricane Maria's approach and make landfall near Yabucoa, Puerto Rico, around 6:15 a.m. EDT/AST on Sept. 20 as a Category 5 hurricane. The animation shows Maria move over the island and back into the Atlantic Ocean. view more
