Proteins Share Common Folding Pathways (2 of 4)

image: Photomontage illustrating the idea of the experiment. Much like with our hands, we were able to grab a single protein molecule using our laser trap and study in real time the complicated folding process on its way from an elongated chain to a fully functional calmodulin molecule. This relates to the paper by Dr. Stigler and colleagues. This image relates to a paper that appeared in the Oct. 28, 2011, issue of Science, published by AAAS. The paper, by J. Stigler of Technische Universität München in Garching, Germany, and colleagues, was titled, “The Complex Folding Network of Single Calmodulin Molecules.” view more
