video: This is a movie depicting the architecture of glycosylated HIV gp120. This movie shows, in chronological order, a model of the structure of the protein moiety of gp120 (blue ribbon), the location of the hypervariable loops (V1-V4), the N-linked glycans (yellow sticks) and the CD4 binding site. Finally, the glycans are shown that form the epitope of the broadly neutralizing antibody, IgG1 2G12 (red sticks). This video relates to a paper that appeared in the 3 Jan., 2014, issue of Science, published by AAAS. The paper, by Martin Dalziel at University of Oxford in Oxford, UK, and colleagues was titled, "Emerging Principles for the Therapeutic Exploitation of Glycosylation." view more
