Fires and Smoke in Washington, Oregon, and California (Seen by NASA)

image:

The Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) instrument that flies aboard NASA's Aqua satellite captured an image of smoke from multiple fires burning in Washington, Oregon, and California on Aug. 19 at 21:40 UTC (5:40 p.m. EDT). The multiple red pixels are heat signatures (red) detected by MODIS. The smoke appears to be a light brown color.

InciWeb, the interagency all-risk incident information management system that coordinates with federal, state and local agencies to manage wildfires is providing updates on all fires. For updates, visit the Inciweb website: http://inciweb.nwcg.gov. view more
