A methylation-phosphorylation switch determines Plk1 kinase activity and function in DNA damage repair (1 of 3)

image: A large stoplight parrotfish (Sparisoma viride) scrapes algae from the reef surface. Well-grazed reefs are more hospitable to baby corals than reefs blanketed with thick algae, and a recent study by Bigelow Laboratory scientists uncovered the importance of fish diversity to this process. This material relates to a paper that appeared in the March 6th, 2019, issue of Science Advances, published by AAAS. The paper, by W. Li at Wuhan University in Wuhan, China, and colleagues was titled, "A methylation-phosphorylation switch determines Plk1 kinase activity and function in DNA damage repair." view more
