The ice road in the back connects the platform with the camp on the western lake shore. This image relates to a paper that appeared in the May 9, 2013, issue of Science Express, published by AAAS. The paper, by Julie Brigham-Grette at University of Massachusetts in Amherst, Mass., and colleagues was titled, "Pliocene Warmth, Polar Amplification, and Stepped Pleistocene Cooling Recorded in NE Arctic Russia." view more
