Atomic-resolution structure of cytoskeletal bactofilin by solid-state NMR* (1 of 1)

image: With the aid of bactofilin, Helicobacter bacteria (shown in blue) develop their typical screw shape that allows them to bore into the gastric mucosa. Helicobacter bacteria can cause inflammations and ulcers there. The structural elucidation of bactofilin may provide a starting point for the development of urgently needed new antibiotics. This material relates to a paper that appeared in the Dec. 4, 2015, issue of Science, published by AAAS. The paper, by C.
