The Impacts of Herbivory on Continental Scales (6 of 10)

image: Impala are mixed feeders, usually increasing the amount of browse in their diet during the dry season. However, when the savannas burn, the post-fire flush of green grass provides a nutritious grazing resource during this time when high quality forage is usually scarce. This material relates to a paper that appeared in the Nov. 27, 2015 issue of Science, published by AAAS. The paper, by G.P. Hempson at University of Cape Town in Rondebosch, South Africa, and colleagues was titled, "A continent-wide assessment of the form and intensity of large mammal herbivory in Africa." view more
