According to the project manager, head of the Department of Thermophysics and Superficial Phenomena of UrFU Institute of Natural Sciences and Mathematics Oleg Sazhin, the research is focused on the closed heat transfer devices, such as contour heat pipes and thermosyphons, study of which was first launched in our country at the university in the early 1970s under the leadership of Yuri Gerasimov. These developments were brought to real use and are now successfully used in aerospace engineering. The search for ways to intensify heat transfer in two-phase heat transfer devices is continued by a student of Yuri Gerasimov - Professor Valery Kiseev.
At present, due to the active development of methods for obtaining nanoscale objects and the creation of nanostructures, the possibilities of using nanotechnologies in real industrial applications have been actively discussed. This was reflected, in fundamental and applied problems related to thermal physics, the physical basis for various energy sectors.'We are trying to intensify the heat transfer process by using nanomodified composite materials and a nanofluid heat carrier in the design of such devices. The project is aimed at solving the actual problem of thermal physics related to the removal of high-density heat fluxes at a relatively low temperature difference between the source and the heat sink,' said Oleg Sazhin.
The scientist also expressed his confidence that the research will allow to obtain new information on the mechanisms of phase transformations using nanomodified materials and heat carriers, and to increase the thermodynamic efficiency of heat pipes thermal control systems. The results of this project will be useful in various fields of technology, for example, in electronics, chemical technology, automobile, transport and aerospace industries. In total, the Ministry allocates about 630 million rubles for the support of projects under the National Technological Initiative.
