This is a roundworm (C. elegans) embryo, used as a model system for studying fundamental biological questions. This video relates to a paper that appeared in the Feb. 9, 2012, issue of Science Express, published by AAAS. The paper, by M. Roh-Johnson at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in Chapel Hill, N.C., and colleagues was titled, "Triggering a Cell Shape Change by Exploiting Pre-Existing Actomyosin Contractions." view more
