Finger Patterning Controlled by Turing Network (4 of 6)

video: Video of an in-vitro culture of cell taken from the developing limb bud of a Sox9-EGFP mouse. A periodic pattern of Sox9-EGFP protein concentration (bright cells) self-organizes in the culture similar to a Turing mechanism. This video relates to a paper that appeared in the Aug. 1, 2014, issue of Science, published by AAAS. The paper, by J. Raspopovic at the Centre for Genomic Regulation (CRG) in Barcelona, Spain, and colleagues was titled, "Digit patterning is controlled by a Bmp-Sox9-Wnt Turing network modulated by morphogen gradients." view more
