Gilmore receives funding for postdoctoral fellowship program

Michael Gilmore, Associate Professor, School of Integrative Studies, received $40,334 from ACEER Foundation for the CHSS Postdoctoral Fellowship Program.

As part of this arrangement, the postdoctoral fellow, Dr. Brian Griffiths, will devote 25 percent of his time to teaching and will assume a 1:1 spring/fall load. The fellow also will co-lead at least one field course per academic year to the Peruvian Amazon with Gilmore, pending CDC travel guidelines.

The postdoctoral fellow will dedicate 25 percent of his time to active research. In this role, the fellow will continue his active research program in ecology, conservation, and sustainability.

By November 2021, the fellow will have submitted two major grant proposals to the National Geographic Society and the National Science Foundation's Dynamics of Integrated Socio-Economic Systems (DISES) program whose combined budgets total almost $1 million.

Additionally, the fellow will undertake a project in the Amazon in 2021 with recently acquired research funds, which is expected to result in at least five peer-reviewed publications.

Funding for this award began in January 2021 and will end in December 2021. Funding is renewable for three years.
