image: Southern California's Lake Fire was reported just before 4:00 pm on June 17, and by June 25, it was still large enough to be detected by NASA's Aqua satellite in this image. This natural-color satellite image was collected by the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) aboard the Aqua satellite on June 25, 2015. Actively burning areas, detected by MODIS's thermal bands, are outlined in red. According to Inciweb, as of today, June 29 at 10:12 p.m. PDT, the blaze was 60 percent controlled.
