Warm Glow From the Orion Nebula

image: A million-degree plasma cloud in the Orion Nebula. The emission colored in blue shows X-ray emission from a hot plasma cloud in the extended regions of the Orion Nebula, detected by the XMM-Newton satellite. The background image has been recorded by the Spitzer Space Telescope in the infrared, showing emission from cool dust. This image relates to an article that appeared in the Nov. 29, 2007, issue of Science Express, published by AAAS. The study, by Dr. Manuel Guedel and colleagues at Max-Planck-Institute for Astronomy in Heidelberg, Germany, was titled "Discovery of a Million-Degree Plasma Pervading the Extended Orion Nebula." view more
