Engineered Antibodies Fight Bacteria, May Stave Off Antibiotic Resistance (1 of 4)

image: An antibody is disrupting the Pseudomonas aeruginosa injectisome. One of three mechanisms for MEDI3902 is its ability to bind and disrupt the bacterium's ability to inject toxins into human cells by binding and disrupting the needle like injectisome on the surface of the bacterium. This image relates to a paper that appeared in the Nov. 12, 2014, issue of Science Translational Medicine, published by AAAS. The paper, by Dr. A. DiGiandomenico at MedImmune, LLC in Gaithersburg, Md., and colleagues was titled, "A multifunctional bispecific antibody protects against Pseudomonas aeruginosa." view more
