image: This image shows coreshine from the Lynds Dark Nebula 183 [or L183 or LDN183]. The heart of the cloud is revealed by the strong scattering of mid-infrared light by micrometer-sized grains. This phenomenon is present in half of the studied objects. This image relates to an article that appeared in the Sept. 24, 2010, issue of Science, published by AAAS. The study, by Dr. L. Pagani of Observatoire de Paris in Paris, France, and colleagues was titled, "The Ubiquity of Micrometer-Sized Dust Grains in the Dense Interstellar Medium." view more
