CHEST Critical Care and CHEST Pulmonary receive indexation with Scopus

Business Announcement

American College of Chest Physicians

Glenview, IL – The American College of Chest Physicians® (CHEST) announced that CHEST® Critical Care and CHEST® Pulmonary, both part of the CHEST® journal portfolio, received approval for indexation with Elsevier’s Scopus.

Launched in 2023, both CHEST Critical Care and CHEST Pulmonary provide open access content in the fields of pulmonary and critical care medicine. The journals received indexation from the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ) in 2024, and this additional indexation is expected to increase the visibility, accessibility, usage, and impact of the scholarly research journals.

“It’s an honor to have the journals accepted for indexation in Scopus, one of the world’s leading abstract and citation databases,” said Hayley Gershengorn, MD, Editor in Chief of CHEST Critical Care. “This recognition is a testament to the dedication of our editorial team, the rigor of our peer-review process, and the high-quality research contributed by our authors.”

Every year, thousands of new titles are suggested for inclusion in Scopus, but only 33% of those titles meet the rigorous technical criteria. Of those roughly 1,200 titles, only 50% are accepted after review by the independent Content Selection Advisory Board. More than 5,500 of the peer-reviewed titles on Scopus are full open access titles.

“Seeing both indexation from the DOAJ and Scopus happen so quickly after launch is incredibly encouraging for the future of the CHEST journals,” said Matthew Miles, MD, FCCP, Editor in Chief of CHEST Pulmonary. “They are only going to grow from here, and we look forward to continuing to serve the academic community with impactful and innovative research.”

CHEST Critical Care and CHEST Pulmonary accept submissions of original research and case series. Each features an enhanced emphasis on medical decision-making, implementation science, health services delivery, quality improvement, cost-effectiveness analysis, policy reports, study design, and more.
