The American Physical Society’s joint March Meeting and April Meeting, now called the Global Physics Summit, begins in less than two weeks. The conference will be held in person in Anaheim, California and online everywhere March 16-21.
Press kit
Press releases, tip sheets, and other materials are now available in the Global Physics Summit press kit. Registered journalists and public information officers will also receive emails with information daily for the duration of the meeting. There are no press conferences planned for this year’s program.
Press room
In-person press registrants will have access to a press room (Manhattan Room at Hilton Anaheim, Concourse Level) for work and networking. It will be open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. PT Monday through Thursday and 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Friday. Breakfast, snacks, refreshments, and boxed lunches will be served Monday through Thursday. Breakfast will be available on Friday.
Press roundtable
On Monday, March 17 at 3:30 p.m. PT, Brookhaven National Laboratory will host a roundtable discussion in the press room that will feature scientists conducting research on the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider and preparing to transform it into the Electron-Ion Collider.
Lunch With a Scientist
On Monday through Thursday, researchers will be available for informal conversations over lunch in the press room. Seating is first-come, first-served. The Lunch With a Scientist schedule is available in the Global Physics Summit press kit and is subject to change.
Press happy hour
Mingle with colleagues at a happy hour for all press registrants in the press room on Tuesday, March 18 at 5 p.m. Complimentary beer, wine, and non-alcoholic beverages will be served.
Special session featuring Nobel laureates
Geoffrey Hinton and David Baker — winners of the 2024 Nobel Prizes in Physics and Chemistry, respectively — will discuss their prize-winning research on artificial neural networks and computational protein design in this special session on March 16.
International Year of Quantum Science and Technology events
2025 is the International Year of Quantum Science and Technology, a U.N.-designated year marking a century of modern quantum mechanics. To celebrate, the Global Physics Summit will include special scientific sessions and events as part of QuantumFest.
Pre-meeting events
Press registrants, meeting attendees, and members of the public are welcome to attend the Quantum Jubilee on March 15. The event will feature performances, science demonstrations, and flash talks about quantum physics.
Press registrants can also attend Squishy Science Sunday, a free community event on March 16 that will include hands-on experiments, scientific demonstrations, and conversations with physicists about soft and squishy matter.
Gallery of Soft Matter
The annual Gallery of Soft Matter — a visual arts competition that illustrates the science and beauty of soft matter — will be on display throughout the meeting.
Scientific program
The Global Physics Summit will include nearly 1,200 sessions and 14,000 presentations on astrophysics, climate science, medicine, biological physics, quantum information, superconductivity, nuclear physics, and more. For more information, search the scientific program. All times are in Pacific time.
Press registration
