In this topical issue of Calcified Tissue International, issue editors Lars Folkestad and Stuart H. Ralston present a collection of 14 critical reviews and original research articles that reflect the current state-of-the-art understanding of osteogenesis imperfecta (OI). The contributions cover essential aspects of OI, including its nosology, genetics, clinical presentation, and treatment strategies for both children and adults, as well as translational studies on bone mineralization in OI, and preclinical research utilizing animal models.

The Editors note: “The diverse and innovative topics that are highlighted in this special issue show the significant progress made in evaluating, managing, and developing therapeutic interventions for OI. We sincerely thank the authors for contributing their exceptional reviews and new research. It is our hope that these contributions will assist future research to bridge the gap between mechanistic insights and personalized care, with the aim of improving follow-up and treatment approaches for individuals with OI.”
