Family Heart Foundation Appoints Dr. Seth Baum as Chairman of the Board of Directors

The Family Heart Foundation® is proud to announce the appointment of Dr. Seth Baum as the Board of Directors Chairman. An esteemed expert in preventive cardiology and lipidology, Dr. Baum has insights and extensive experience that will contribute to the Foundation’s strategic mission to increase awareness for lay public, expand screening for high-risk populations, improve understanding and education for healthcare teams, and promote accurate information surrounding Familial Hypercholesterolemia (FH) and elevated Lipoprotein(a) [Lp(a)].
As Chairman, Dr. Seth Baum will work alongside the Chief Executive Officer and Founder, Katherine Wilemon, as well as the Board of Directors to advance the Family Heart Foundation’s mission-driven initiatives, cultivating strategic partnerships that reinforce its position as the go-to resource for inherited lipid disorders. With a commitment to cutting-edge research, education, and patient support, the Foundation remains at the forefront of the field, serving as a trusted, authoritative source for healthcare teams, communities, and families. Dr. Baum’s leadership will continue to support the Foundation’s work in pioneering new approaches to enhance awareness, accessibility, and comprehensive care in cardiovascular health.

Seth J. Baum, MD, FACC, FACPM, FAHA, FNLA, FASPC, is a leader in preventive cardiology and lipidology with over 30 years of experience, including being past president of the American Society of Preventive Cardiology. He currently serves as the Chief Medical Officer of Flourish Research, and Clinical Affiliate Professor of Cardiology at the Charles E. Schmidt College of Medicine, Florida Atlantic University. His contributions to clinical trials and lipid research have made him a prominent advocate for preventive cardiovascular health.

Dr. Baum will work with the Board to uplift the Family Heart Foundation’s strategic mission and initiatives. Cornerstone Foundation initiatives include mobilizing communities to increase understanding of inherited lipid disorders like FH and elevated Lp(a), providing families with access to screenings and consultations with Family Heart Care Navigators for personalized support, and ensuring the availability of accurate, accessible health resources. The Foundation also aims to expand education for healthcare practitioners on the latest in lipid research and management and to drive research that translates complex medical information into practical, understandable insights for the general public.
By fostering collaborations with healthcare systems, academic and research institutions, and community and advocacy groups, the 2025 Board of Directors will support the Foundation’s mission to advance research and ensure that its work is rooted in scientific rigor and patient-centered outcomes.
