We are thrilled to announce the publication of the first paper in Neuroelectronics, a new journal dedicated to pioneering research at the intersection of neuroscience, electronic systems, and neural interface technologies. This milestone publication sets the stage for Neuroelectronics as a platform for groundbreaking advances in brain-computer interfaces, neuroengineering, bioelectronics, and related fields.

In this inaugural paper“An 8-Channel High-Voltage Neural Stimulation IC Design with Exponential Waveform Output” Professor Sun from Tianjin University, in collaboration with researchers from other institutions, presents a highly efficient, innovative neural stimulation integrated circuit (IC) capable of delivering exponentially decaying waveforms for multi-channel neural stimulation. The 8-channel stimulator chip, designed with a high-voltage output stage, ensures effective charge balancing, even at large impedance loads such as the electrode-tissue interface. It offers unparalleled performance in triggering action potentials and promoting muscle contractions, with power efficiency reaching up to 98%. The research represents a major leap forward in the development of safer, long-term neural stimulation technologies. With its precision and energy efficiency, this design promises to enhance applications ranging from neural modulation to brain-machine interfaces and bioelectronics, bringing us closer to fully integrated neural therapies. The research exemplifies the core mission of Neuroelectronics: to advance knowledge and innovation in the design, function, and application of electronic systems in neuroscience.

Neuroelectronics, a new journal launched by ELSP and led by the Editor-in-Chief, Prof. Mohamad Sawan, from Westlake University. Professor Sawan mentioned that this first accepted and online published paper represents the layer of a skyscraper we decided to build together. Warm thanks to authors, to reviewers and everyone else from the board of editors and ELSP team who are fully motivated to run this timely emerging Neuroelectronics journal.

It is intended to foster the understanding, discoveries, and applications of neurotechnologies by providing a platform for scientists, researchers, engineers, and clinicians to share their original research contributions such as research articles, review papers, and short article (letters).
