Ranked 1501+ in THE World University Rankings 2025

Okayama, Japan — On October 9, the Times Higher Education (THE), a prominent UK-based higher education publication, announced its World University Rankings 2025. Okayama University of Science (OUS) was ranked in the 1501+ range globally among the 2,092 universities included in the rankings. Domestically, OUS tied for 63rd place among 119 ranked universities in Japan.

 

The THE World University Rankings assess universities across five key areas: Teaching, Research Environment, Research Quality, Industry, and International Outlook. These areas are measured using 18 specific performance indicators, which are then used to calculate the overall ranking. OUS’s entry into this prestigious ranking is particularly significant, as it marks the university's first participation.

 

One area where OUS stood out was Industry, where it ranked 1069th globally. The university’s extensive research initiatives, in collaboration with industry and local communities, are believed to have played a key role in this achievement.

 

Key Rankings:

  • Global Ranking: 1501+
  • National Ranking: Tied for 63rd in Japan
