HOUSTON, TX, September 18, 2024 – The Texas Heart Institute (THI), a globally renowned non-profit cardiovascular health institution, is proud to announce the return of Heather Pemberton, MD, to its Center for Cardiovascular Care. A distinguished non-invasive cardiologist with a specialization in cardiac imaging and heart care during pregnancy, Dr. Pemberton brings with her a wealth of expertise in treating complex cardiovascular conditions, including gestational hypertension and preeclampsia.

Dr. Pemberton is Board Certified in Cardiovascular Medicine, Internal Medicine, and Echocardiography, and she is highly skilled in performing advanced diagnostic procedures such as transesophageal and transthoracic echocardiograms, direct current cardioversions, and cardiac PET and SPECT imaging. Her deep passion for preventative medicine and cardiometabolic health have shaped her approach to patient care, and she is committed to delivering personalized treatment plans that promote long-term heart health.

Prior to her return to THI, Dr. Pemberton served as a cardiologist at Cone Health Medical Center in North Carolina, where she co-founded the Cardio-Obstetrics Clinic and co-chaired the Annual Women’s Heart Symposium.

Dr. Pemberton is also a passionate educator and mentor. She continues to contribute to the training of future physicians, serving as a cardiology preceptor for family and internal medicine residents and mentoring cardiology fellows at The Texas Heart Institute Cardiovascular Disease Training Program. In addition to her clinical and educational roles, Dr. Pemberton actively engages in community outreach programs that promote heart-healthy lifestyles through diet, exercise, and individualized wellness strategies.

Her academic journey began with a Doctorate of Medicine from Georgetown University School of Medicine, followed by residency training in Internal Medicine at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Harvard Medical School. She completed her General Cardiology Fellowship at The Texas Heart Institute, where she served as Chief Cardiology Fellow.

Dr. Pemberton’s return to THI marks another step forward in expanding our clinical offerings and enhancing the exceptional care delivered at our comprehensive cardiovascular center. The Texas Heart Institute Center for Cardiovascular Care adds a champion of preventative health care, and we are delighted that she joins our team of leading cardiovascular specialists.
