Sun studying mobile security (android) through experimental learning

Kun Sun, Professor, Information Sciences and Technology; Associate Director, Center for Secure Information Systems, College of Engineering and Computing (CEC), received funding for the project: “Mobile Security (Android) through Experimental Learning.”

The program addresses the need for a cybersecurity workforce that can secure the Android platform. 

As mobile devices become increasingly integral to daily life, the need to secure the Android platform has never been more critical. This program directly addresses the pressing demand for a specialized cybersecurity workforce adept at protecting Android systems.

The program will equip students with knowledge and skills in Android security. It will also foster problem-solving capabilities and enhance communication and teamwork skills. Additionally, it will facilitate immediate professional pathways for students to collaborate with companies like Google and Visa.

Sun received $43,050 from the College of William and Mary for this research. Funding began in June 2024 and will end in late June 2025.
