The SCI Publishing Team is delighted to announce the appointment of Professor Mithila Jugulam to the position of Co-Editor-in-Chief of the SCI journal Pest Management Science.

She follows in the esteemed footsteps of Dr Steve Duke, who is standing down from the position after four and a half years of dedicated service. We are delighted to note that Steve will remain on the board as Reviews Editor, and we will be recognising his valuable contribution to the journal over the coming months.

Reflecting on his tenure, Steve noted, ‘Serving as Editor-in-Chief and Co-Editor-in-Chief of Pest Management Science has been an honour and a privilege. Together, we have worked to see the journal grow significantly in volume, scope, and impact – something for which we can all take considerable pride.’

Mithila is Professor of Weed Physiology and Molecular Biology at Kansas State University. She holds BS and MS degrees in Agriculture from India and completed her Ph.D. and postdoctoral training in Canada. Her internationally recognised research focuses on the evolution and mechanisms of herbicide resistance, as well as the impact of climate change on herbicide efficacy. She mentors graduate and undergraduate students and has supervised numerous postdoctoral fellows. Jugulam has received multiple awards for her research and teaching contributions, authored over 115 peer-reviewed publications, and is actively involved in various professional societies.

For over a decade, Mithila has served on the editorial board of Pest Management Science. Additionally, in her capacity as an Associate Editor, she has managed numerous manuscripts and also contributes as a reviewer for this journal.

On her appointment, Mithila noted, 'I’m delighted to step into my new role as Co-Editor-In-Chief for Pest Management Science. I'd like to express my sincere gratitude to the outgoing Editor-In-Chief, Dr Steve Duke, for his dedication and hard work in steering this esteemed journal. His contributions have laid a strong foundation for advancing the high standards of this journal.

‘As I step into this role, I am filled with optimism and enthusiasm for the future of our journal. I am fortunate to work alongside Dr Yidong Wu, the other co-Editor-in-Chief of this journal, who brings a wealth of experience and expertise to this role. I hope to continue the commitment to excellence in scientific rigor and editorial integrity of this journal. My vision for Pest Management Science is to continue its tradition of being a leading platform for cutting-edge research in pest management while also fostering interdisciplinary collaboration and innovation.

‘I envision our journal as a catalyst for sharing knowledge and best practices to contribute to the global efforts for sustainable pest control. I eagerly look forward to working with the esteemed journal crew, our distinguished editorial board, authors, reviewers, and readers to achieve this vision.

‘I'm deeply honoured by the trust placed in me by the journal community and am committed to upholding the high standards of Pest Management Science. Together, I'm confident we can elevate this journal to the next level and broaden its horizons.’
