He served as an expert on the Team USA Council on Racial and Social Justice, which found that punishing Olympic athletes for peaceful protests such as gestures on the podium violated their freedom of expression. In response, the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Committee decided to no longer sanction athletes for these protests.
