Gene expression of a tropical starfish fluctuates between the seasons

An adult crown-of-thorns starfish in the wild on the Great Barrier Reef. Male and female transcriptomes of seven somatic tissues were analysed in the summer and winter. Four of these, orange-tipped spines, purple papulae, brown skin and orange-white tube feet, can been seen in this photo.
