Save the Date for the 15th World Mitochondria Society Annua Meeting on October 29-31, 2024, at DoubleTree by Hilton Berlin Ku’damm, Berlin, Germany. The WMS is pleased to announce the participation of two distinguished keynote speakers for the Targeting Mitochondria 2024 conference in Berlin this October.
Keynote Speaker of Day 1: Prof. Eric Schon
Professor Eric Schon from Columbia University, USA will deliver a presentation titled "Mitochondria in Alzheimer disease: it's not what you think".
Prof. Schon challenges the conventional understanding of Alzheimer's disease, proposing an innovative hypothesis centered around the role of a different amyloid precursor protein cleavage product, C99. His presentation promises fresh perspectives on Alzheimer's disease as a lipid disorder, offering potential breakthroughs in diagnosis and treatment.
Keynote Speaker of Day 2: Prof. Howy Jacobs
Professor Howy Jacobs from Tampere University, Finland, will discuss the implications of elevated mitochondrial temperature for evolution, development, cell signaling, immunity and pathology.
Talk title: Mitochondria: More Heat Than Light?
"Mitochondria are not just producers of ATP or clearing houses of intermediary metabolism. Here I will trace the history of how mitochondria have come to be regarded as key contributors to cell and organismal physiology, and how recent findings have opened up new chapters in our thinking" stated Prof. Jacobs.
