The April Meeting of the American Physical Society begins next week with presentations on the latest research in astrophysics, cosmology, particle physics, gravitation, nuclear physics, and more. The conference will be held in person in Sacramento and online everywhere April 3-6.
Press Kit
There are no press conferences planned for this year’s program. However, press materials about newsworthy presentations are now available in the April Meeting press kit. Press registrants will also receive emails with press information daily for the duration of the meeting.
Press Room
In-person press registrants will have access to a press room for work and networking. It will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. PT Wednesday through Friday and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. PT on Saturday. Refreshments and boxed lunches will be served in the press room daily.
Public Lecture on Detecting Gravitational Waves With LISA
This year’s public lecture explores the modern description of gravity, what gravitational waves are, how scientists hope to measure them, and what they hope to learn from their detection, with a focus on the forthcoming space gravitational wave observatory, LISA, being launched in the early 2030s by ESA and NASA. The lecture will be livestreamed on April 3 at 7:30 p.m. PT.
Special Symposium on Big Questions and Challenges for the Next Decade
In the livestreamed Kavli Foundation Special Symposium on April 5 at 8:30 a.m. PT, scientists will discuss what the next 10 years may look like for nuclear, particle, and accelerator physics.
Plenary Session on the Scientific Impact of Major Facilities
Hear from scientists about how the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider, the Large Hadron Collider, the Laser Interferometer Gravitational-Wave Observatory, and the Virgo gravitational-wave detector have and will continue to change the way scientists think about physics in a plenary session that will be livestreamed on April 6 at 8:30 a.m. PT.
Scientific Program
The scientific program will include approximately 1,700 presentations on everything from quarks to the cosmos. For details, search the scientific program. All times are in Pacific time.

News media with valid APS press credentials may register for the meeting at no cost. To request press credentials, visit APS’s online newsroom. Press registration will remain open throughout the meeting.
Hybrid Format
The April Meeting will have both in-person and online experiences. The in-person experience will be at the SAFE Credit Union Convention Center. It will include scientific sessions, career-focused events, networking opportunities, exhibits and workshops, receptions, and more. In-person press registration includes access to the online experience.
The online experience will be held simultaneously, but it is geared toward remote attendees’ needs. It will feature livestreamed sessions from the in-person meeting, online-only research presentations, virtual poster presentations, and more.
Content on the online meeting platform — including recordings of select sessions at the in-person meeting — will be available for 90 days after the meeting.
