Following the huge success of the previous edition, the 15th edition of the Skin Ageing & Challenges International Conference is set to take place on November 7-8, 2024, at Corinthia Palace in Malta. The conference will provide attendees with a comprehensive overview of the current landscape and future prospects in skin aging research.

Professor Jean Krutmann, conference president, is just as excited as we are: “Skin aging is complex, but by working together across different fields, we’re making incredible strides. This conference is where all that collaboration shines, helping us find new ways to keep our skin healthy and vibrant.”

 

Skin Challenges 2024 Agenda Highlights

Day 1 - Tuesday, November 5, 2024

Keynote Presentation: Skin Ageing & Challenges 2024: Today and Future Insights

Providing an overview of where we stand today and the horizon of skin aging research.

Session 1: Advances in Understanding Skin Ageing: Latest Discoveries and Mechanistic Explorations

Covering topics such as the impact of cellular senescence on skin health, the interplay between oxidative stress and skin aging, environmental influences, significance of olfactory receptors, and others.

Session 2: The Skin Microbiome’s Role in Ageing: Current State and Perspectives

Exploring the diversity and composition of the skin microbiome, strategies for modulation, and the impact of probiotics on skincare, among other topics.

Day 2 - Wednesday, November 6, 2024

Session 3: Looking Ahead: Emerging Trends and Fields in Skin Ageing

Exploring exosomes, circadian rhythm, stem cells, senolytics, artificial intelligence, innovations in skin engineering, among other topics.

Session 4: Industrial and Academic Innovations: The Challenge of Translation

Addressing the translation of academic research into industrial applications.

Concluding Remarks & Awards: Providing a concise overview of crucial insights, outlining the future directions in skin aging research, and acknowledging outstanding contributions.

 

A look back at Skin Challenges 2023: Highlighting Remarkable Contributions:

  • Best Scientific Contribution Award: Vladimir A. Botchkarev of Boston University School of Medicine, USA, was recognized for his exceptional contributions to scientific research with his presentation on "Skin Aging in Long-Lived Naked Mole-Rats: Mechanisms and Perspectives."
  • Best Short Oral Presentation Award: Andrey Koptyug from Mid Sweden University, Sweden, was honored for his contribution on "Skin Aging Criteria and Search for Anti-Aging Interventions."
  • Best Poster Presentation Award (1): Phetthinee Muanjumpon, Mahidol University, Thailand, showcased the "Protective Effects of Sulforaphane Against UVA-Induced Photoaging in Mouse Skin via Downregulation of Mmp-1."
  • Best Poster Presentation Award (2): Barbara Hochecker, Albstadt-Sigmaringen University, Germany, presented her poster on the "Influence of Water-filtered Infrared-A (wIRA) Hyperthermia and Spermidine on Autophagy in Human Skin Fibroblasts."
