ACM SIGCOMM 2000

Network security, Internet telephony , wireless communication, voice-over-IP, scalable global IP-anycast and the economy of the Internet, are some topics for the SCM SIGCOMM 2 000 global conference in Stockholm, Sweden, August 28th to Sept 1st.

The conference about applications, technologies, architectures and protocols for computer communication has gathered researchers and participants from universities and companies from USA and all of Europe. The meeting is beeing held at Grand Hotel in Stockholm, the Swedish capital, branded by Newsweek as a Capital of Information Technology.

ACM SIGCOMM 2 000 is the annual conference of the Special Interest Group on Data Communication (SIGCOMM), and a vital special interest group of the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM). It is the first time the conference is being held in Scandinavia.

The conference is being organized and co-chaired by Professor Per Gunningberg, Uppsala University, and Professor Stephen Pink, Lulea University of Technology.

Prof. André Danthine at The University of Liège, Belgium will receive the 2 000 SIGCOMM Award and give a keynote speech in the opening session. Among other lecturers are Dr. Radia Perlman, Boston Center for Networking Boston USA, and distinguished Engineer at Sun Microsystems, well kown for her contributions to bridging, routing and security problems; Professor Henning Schulzrinne, Clombia University, NY, USA, developer of protocols for Internet standards; Dr Richard Gibbens, University of Cambridge, UK; and Dr. Peter Key, Microsoft Research, Cambridge UK.
